Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, is set to deliver a sermon at Lambeth Palace as part of activities marking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing state visit to the United Kingdom.
The engagement, scheduled for Thursday, will see the First Lady address a gathering at the historic residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury, a key centre of the Church of England. She is also expected to meet with representatives of the church during the visit.
Mrs Tinubu, an ordained pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has been actively involved in faith-based and women-focused initiatives in Nigeria, and her appearance at Lambeth Palace adds a religious and cultural dimension to the diplomatic visit.
The event forms part of a broader itinerary for the Nigerian delegation, which includes high-level engagements with King Charles III and meetings with British officials aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between both countries.
President Tinubu and the First Lady arrived in London on Tuesday, marking Nigeria’s first state visit to the UK in nearly four decades. The visit is expected to focus on deepening cooperation in areas such as trade, security, and diplomacy, while also engaging with the Nigerian diaspora in the UK.
Mrs Tinubu’s scheduled sermon highlights the role of soft diplomacy and faith-based engagement within the broader framework of the visit, reflecting Nigeria’s cultural and religious influence on the global stage.
