Sokoto lawmaker Abdussamad Dasuki dumps PDP, defects to ADC

David Egbede, March 15, 2026March 15, 2026

A member of the House of Representatives representing Tambuwal/Kebbe Federal Constituency of Sokoto State, Abdussamad Dasuki, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Dasuki announced his resignation in a letter dated March 15, 2026, addressed to the PDP chairman of Dogon Daji/Salah Ward in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State, bringing an end to his long association with the party.

The lawmaker cited the prolonged leadership crisis within the PDP as the main reason for his decision, noting that the internal disputes have weakened the party’s ability to function effectively as a strong opposition.

He explained that the ongoing wrangling within the party has reduced its capacity to provide the credible and organised opposition needed to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic system.

According to Dasuki, his decision followed wide consultations with political allies, constituents, and other stakeholders who share similar concerns about the current state of the party and the country.

After leaving the PDP, he confirmed his move to the ADC, stating that the platform would enable him to collaborate with like-minded individuals to tackle Nigeria’s socio-economic and political challenges.

Dasuki also appreciated members of the PDP for their support during his time in the party and reaffirmed his commitment to continue serving the people of Tambuwal/Kebbe Federal Constituency and Nigeria with dedication, integrity, and courage.

He urged his supporters and constituents to remain steadfast as he begins a new political chapter aimed at contributing to efforts to rebuild the nation and promote a stronger democratic and prosperous Nigeria.
