Sule Lamido, a former governor of Jigawa State and founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has urged party members to accept the caretaker committee arrangement proposed by Nyesom Wike.
Lamido said the party should prioritise reconciliation and unity in order to rebuild its strength.
He made the call while addressing journalists during a Ramadan Iftar gathering with PDP leaders and supporters in Bamaina, his hometown in Jigawa State.
According to him, Wike demonstrated strong political calculation by taking advantage of the leadership vacuum created after the tenure of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) expired.
Lamido explained that by the time the NWC’s tenure ended, the only structure still functioning within the party was the one supported by Wike.
While acknowledging the disagreements within the party, he stressed the need for dialogue and reconciliation with all key stakeholders, including Wike, to maintain unity.
Lamido added that regardless of personal differences, party members should engage Wike in the spirit of brotherhood, national interest, and the collective goal of keeping the PDP united.
