Former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, along with Vice President Kashim Shettima, have landed at Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri, ahead of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s swearing-in for a second term.
Governor Soludo and Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Gilbert Ibezim are scheduled to be sworn in on Tuesday, with the main inauguration ceremony set to take place at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, following a series of pre-inauguration activities.
The events began on Sunday, March 15, 2026, with an interdenominational service at the International Convention Centre, Awka, marking the conclusion of Soludo’s first tenure and seeking divine blessings for the new term. A thanksgiving mass is planned for Sunday, March 22, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral.
Security has been strengthened across the state, with law enforcement personnel deployed to ensure a smooth and safe ceremony.
