Captain of the Super Falcons, Rasheedat Ajibade, has voiced frustration over the team’s level of preparation ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The tournament, scheduled to be hosted in Morocco, was moved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) from March to July.

Nigeria’s senior women’s team played two friendly matches against Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses during the February international window and on Tuesday.
The side, led by coach Justine Madugu, had also lined up double-header friendlies against Cape Verde next week. However, Cape Verde has withdrawn, leaving the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) searching for a replacement opponent.
Ajibade expressed her dissatisfaction with the current build-up to the tournament.
“We are just preparing for the women’s African Cup of nations, we are also fighting for World Cup qualification…so why are we not preparing with the seriousness and intensity this demands…abeg wetin be all this one, for how long?” she wrote on Instagram.
The Super Falcons are the defending champions, having secured a record 10th title at the last edition of the competition.
The 2026 WAFCON tournament will also serve as the qualification pathway for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
