David Egbede, April 4, 2026April 4, 2026

Southampton FC pulled off a major upset in the FA Cup, defeating Arsenal FC 2-1 to progress to the next round.

Southampton started brightly and took the lead through Che Adams, who finished confidently after capitalising on a defensive lapse.

Arsenal responded with an equaliser before halftime, as Gykeres calmly converted to bring the Gunners level.

The second half saw a determined Southampton side push forward, and their efforts paid off when Adam Armstrong found the back of the net with a clinical finish to restore the lead.

Despite late pressure from Arsenal, Southampton held firm defensively to secure a memorable victory and knock the Gunners out of the competition.
