Operations at the Temporary Terminal (T3) of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, were briefly disrupted on Wednesday after an electrical spark triggered a smoke incident at the facility.

According to a statement issued by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the incident occurred in an operational office at about 2:05 p.m., prompting immediate response from airport emergency teams.

Authorities say electrical maintenance is currently ongoing to ensure all systems function optimally before the terminal is reopened.

“All flights scheduled to operate from Terminal 3 have been temporarily diverted to Terminal 2, with passengers advised to take note of the change,” the statement read.

FAAN, however, noted that the situation has since been brought under control, as personnel of the Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Services (ARFFS) swiftly contained the incident and prevented further damage.
