The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has ramped up its counter-insurgency operations under Operation HADIN KAI, successfully destroying a major terrorist enclave in Kangarwa, located in the Northern Tumbuns area of Borno State.

According to the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the airstrike was carried out around 1205 hours on April 1 by the Air Component of the Joint Task Force North East, following credible intelligence and sustained surveillance.

Ejodame explained that the location had been closely monitored through intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions, which confirmed significant террорист activity and movement within the enclave.

Upon verification, NAF air assets launched precision strikes, executing multiple attack runs on identified structures and скрытые targets used by insurgents.

The operation resulted in the destruction of key infrastructure, including logistics hubs and operational shelters.

“Scores of fighters were neutralised during the bombardment, significantly degrading the operational capability of the enclave and disrupting insurgent movement in the area.

“The successful air interdiction is expected to create favourable conditions for ground troops to advance, dominate the area and carry out follow-on clearance operations,” he said.

The NAF spokesperson added that the mission highlights improved coordination between air and ground forces in the ongoing counter-insurgency efforts in the North-East.

The terrorist enclave, believed to be a stronghold of ISWAP elements, suffered a major setback, with its command and support systems effectively dismantled.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, reaffirmed the Air Force’s commitment to sustained, intelligence-led operations.

He stressed that NAF will continue working closely with ground forces to deny terrorist groups freedom of movement and eliminate remaining enclaves, noting that sustained air campaigns remain vital to restoring peace and stability in the region.
