The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has been conferred with the traditional title of Utukpa-Oritse of Warri Kingdom, also known as Ugbọ́nẹ́ (Light of God), during a homecoming visit to her ancestral town in Delta State on Thursday.

Speaking at the ceremony, the First Lady called on citizens across the nation to embrace unity, stressing that collective harmony is the foundation for progress and prosperity.

“The Bible tells us in Psalm 133 that it is pleasant to dwell together in unity, for there is where God commands blessings,” she said, urging the people of Warri Kingdom to put aside differences for the common good.

Senator Tinubu also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the people of the kingdom. On behalf of her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), she donated ₦50 million to 1,000 women petty traders as part of ongoing empowerment efforts.

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, praised the First Lady for her consistent engagement with the state, noting her visits had fostered support and hope among local communities.

“She has a large heart… these initiatives encouraged me to continue supporting efforts that put smiles on the faces of more Nigerians,” the governor said.

The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atunwatse III, who hosted the First Lady, commended her for her service and called on the kingdom’s residents to move beyond past grievances.

“By doing away with past hurts, there will be peace, progress, and prosperity. We are proud of who you are and what you have become,” he said, adding that the First Lady sets a strong example for women and girls.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, whose mother hails from Warri, now joins the ranks of distinguished personalities recognized by the kingdom for her leadership, philanthropy, and commitment to societal advancement.
