The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has rejected claims by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, that political parties across the country are aligning under his leadership in a so-called “rainbow coalition” to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, IPAC described the claim as unfounded and misleading, stressing that no individual has the authority to speak or negotiate on behalf of registered political parties.
The council, through its National Publicity Secretary, Egbeola Martins, said Wike lacks the mandate to announce political alliances or electoral preferences for parties at either the state or national level.
IPAC maintained that it has not authorised the minister or any other political actor to determine, declare, or publicise the collective position of political parties ahead of the 2027 elections.
The council emphasised that decisions on alliances and endorsements remain the exclusive prerogative of individual parties, guided by their internal democratic processes and leadership structures.
