Asake has opened up about leaving home at just 15 to chase his music dreams, despite not having his father’s approval.
In a recent interview with Korty EO, the 31-year-old ‘Lungu Boy’ crooner reflected on his early years, explaining that his father’s strict nature made it hard for him to get support for his decision.
“The father who gave birth to me, he is way more stubborn than I am, so I could not look at his face. We were close when we were younger, but it got to a time when I wanted to leave home to do what I am doing now, but my father said no. I took off regardless,” he said.
“I was 15, i was just focused on where I was going, and there was nothing anyone could tell me.”
Asake rose to fame in 2020 with his hit song ‘Lady’. The singer joined YBNL in February 2022.
He has released three studio albums, ‘Mr Money With The Vibes’ (2022), ‘Work of Art’ (2023) and ‘Lungu Boy’ (2024).
