FG Approves ₦32bn for Primary Healthcare Nationwide

The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the disbursement of ₦32 billion to primary healthcare facilities across Nigeria under the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF), in a move aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery nationwide.

The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali Pate, disclosed that the funds are already being released to healthcare centres, with plans underway to expand coverage to an additional 5,000 facilities.

He added that ongoing sector reforms are improving access to essential services, including free emergency obstetric care, which has already supported more than 40,000 women.

The minister also highlighted a fistula treatment programme that has provided care for over 4,000 patients, underscoring the government’s commitment to improving health outcomes across the country.
