FCT Polls: Ballot Snatching Disrupts Voting at Polling Unit 007, Abaji (Video)

David Egbede, February 21, 2026February 21, 2026

Voting at Polling Unit 007, A.U. Suleiman 2, in the South East Ward of Abaji Area Council was disrupted on Saturday following a reported ballot paper snatching incident during the chairmanship and councilorship elections.

Eyewitnesses said the chaos erupted when a man allegedly stormed the polling unit, creating confusion and panic among voters. In response, officers of the Nigeria Police Force deployed tear gas to disperse the crowd and restore order.

INEC officials, led by EU 2, assessed the situation and confirmed that ballot papers were indeed snatched during the commotion. Both an electorate at the polling unit and the presiding INEC official corroborated the report.

Consequently, the electoral process at Polling Unit 007 has been suspended, following a decision by INEC officials in consultation with party agents present.

Security personnel remain on site to maintain law and order, while voters and residents await further instructions from electoral authorities.
