Ex-Senator Abdulaziz Nyako Quits ADC Months After Joining

David Egbede, March 23, 2026March 23, 2026

Former senator representing Adamawa Central in the 8th National Assembly, Abdulaziz Nyako, has defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) just months after joining the party.

Nyako announced his exit on Sunday, confirming his return to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Popularly known as “Commander,” the former lawmaker cited internal divisions within the ADC in Adamawa State as the reason for his decision.

Reacting to the development, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri stated that bringing influential figures like Nyako into the APC became necessary after consolidating control of the party structure in the state.

Fintiri also confirmed that Nyako is now officially a registered member of the APC.
