El-Rufai’s Bail Hearing Shifted to June as Trial Opens in Kaduna

Soliu Oyesiji, April 21, 2026April 21, 2026

A Kaduna State High Court has postponed the hearing of the bail application filed by former governor Nasir El-Rufai to the first week of June 2026.

The adjournment was granted by Justice Darius Khobo during proceedings on the case involving the former governor, who is facing multiple charges linked to alleged financial crimes and abuse of office.

El-Rufai is being prosecuted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

Reacting after the session, his counsel, Ukpon Akpan, criticised the repeated adjournments, suggesting they were politically influenced.

The former governor arrived at the court premises around 9 a.m. in the company of officials of the ICPC and operatives of the Department of State Services.

Supporters of El-Rufai gathered outside the courtroom during the hearing, while security personnel maintained order and restricted movement within the court vicinity.
