Defence Ministers Visit Operation HADIN KAI, Reaffirm Fight Against Terrorism

The Federal Ministry of Defence has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to defeating terrorism following an operational visit to the North-East theatre by top defence officials.

The Minister of Defence, Bello Matawalle, alongside senior military leadership, visited the Headquarters of Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri on March 31, 2026, to assess ongoing operations and engage with troops and stakeholders.

During the visit, the delegation paid a courtesy call to the Shehu of Borno, commending the traditional institution for its continued support in the fight against insurgency and acknowledging the resilience of communities in the region.

At the Borno State Government House, government officials expressed appreciation for the sacrifices of the Armed Forces. In response, the ministers reiterated the Federal Government’s resolve to sustain military operations and strengthen collaboration with state authorities to improve security.

The delegation also honoured fallen soldiers at the Maiduguri Military Cemetery, where wreaths were laid in tribute to personnel who lost their lives in service to the nation.

At the theatre command headquarters, the Theatre Commander, Abdulsalam Abubakar, briefed the ministers on recent operational successes. He disclosed that troops neutralised over 280 террорист elements during the Ramadan period, disrupted logistics networks, and rescued abducted civilians.

Speaking to journalists, the ministers praised the Armed Forces for their progress, noting that the achievements reflect improved coordination, professionalism, and resilience. They reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment under Bola Ahmed Tinubu to restore lasting peace and security nationwide.

The visit also included the inspection of a newly built Military Command and Control Centre aimed at enhancing operational coordination and intelligence gathering. Additionally, newly constructed accommodation for troops was commissioned to improve welfare and morale.

Addressing personnel, the ministers conveyed the President’s appreciation and urged troops to maintain momentum in ongoing operations and continue denying terrorists freedom of action.

The Armed Forces, through Operation HADIN KAI, reiterated their commitment to sustained joint operations and collaboration with stakeholders to ensure the total defeat of terrorism in the North-East.
