Dangote Refinery Hikes Petrol Price from ₦774 to ₦874 per Litre

Rejoice Ewodage, March 2, 2026March 2, 2026

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has increased its retail price for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, from ₦774 to ₦874 per litre, the company has announced.

In a notice released on Monday, the refinery, one of Nigeria’s largest fuel producers, said the new price regime takes immediate effect and reflects adjustments in global energy markets and operational costs.

The revised price means motorists purchasing petrol at Dangote‑branded outlets will now pay ₦100 more per litre than before. The move comes amid ongoing volatility in international crude prices and supply chain pressures affecting the downstream petrol sector.

While Dangote Refinery said its pricing is intended to align with market realities, some consumers and transport operators have raised concerns about the impact on household budgets and the cost of transportation.

Industry analysts say the latest adjustment could influence pricing decisions across other retail outlets, particularly as Nigeria continues to manage fuel supply dynamics in the post‑subsidy era.

Despite the hike at Dangote outlets, pump prices still vary across independent fuel stations nationwide, with wholesalers and marketers adjusting figures in response to regional demand and logistical expenditures.
