Members of the Concerned Nigeria Youth Forum staged a march in Abuja on Tuesday to show support for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), amid ongoing controversy over the African Democratic Congress (ADC) leadership.

The group, led by convener Adeyeye Olugbenga, said the demonstration aimed to defend Nigeria’s democracy and uphold the integrity of the electoral body.

Olugbenga stated that the protest came after “attacks from all manner of destructive elements” targeted INEC following the commission’s compliance with a court injunction, which removed “the illegal leadership of ADC in person of David Mark” from its portal.

He also condemned a 48-hour ultimatum given to the INEC chairman by individuals he described as “faceless.”
“We realised few days ago that they have mobilised their attack dogs,” Olugbenga said, adding that the group would continue to support the electoral commission, insisting that its actions are grounded in due process.

“We are here to make a bold statement that the solidarity for INEC and the leadership of INEC continues. We will continue to protect and support the institution of INEC because it is based on credibility,” he added.
