The Supreme Court has granted the request by the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for an accelerated hearing of its appeal.
In a judgement on Tuesday, April 14, the apex court directed all respondents to file their necessary processes within five days and fixed April 22, 2026, for further hearing.
Notably, the Wike/Tinubu-led group had initially requested 20 days, but after deliberations, the parties agreed to 10 days. However, the court reduced the timeline to five days, emphasizing urgency and the need for swift justice.
The case stems from the ongoing leadership dispute within the PDP involving rival factions laying claim to the party’s national structure.
The accelerated hearing comes amid continued internal tensions and legal battles over control of the opposition party.
