The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has dismantled illegal drug distribution networks in Itu Local Government Area, arresting 18 suspects in the process.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, disclosed in a statement from Uyo on Monday that the operation targeted syndicate hideouts in Oku Iboko and Mbak communities.
“These locations are active drug distribution hubs and are fueling criminal activities in the area,” DSP John said, emphasizing that the raids were part of ongoing efforts to curb drug-related crimes in the state.
Authorities said the suspects are currently in police custody and will face prosecution, as the command intensifies efforts to rid communities of illegal drugs and related criminality.
