Nigeria’s defensive setup could be disrupted after two key Super Eagles players missed a recovery training session ahead of Tuesday’s international friendly against Jordan.
The team heads into the fixture following a 2-1 victory over Iran on Friday, with Akor Adams and Moses Simon scoring to seal the win for the 2025 AFCON bronze medalists.
With focus now shifted to the next friendly, head coach Eric Chelle may have to cope without defenders Semi Ajayi of Hull City and Igoh Ogbu of Slavia Prague.
Ajayi was taken off at halftime during the Iran match, with Emmanuel Fernandez replacing him, although the reason for the substitution was not disclosed.
Ogbu, who also started the game, was substituted in the 56th minute after appearing to pick up an injury.
He was replaced by debutant Chibuike Nwaiwu, and details of his condition remain unclear.
In recovery footage shared by the Super Eagles media team on Saturday, both defenders were absent from the training session.
Nine players from the starting lineup against Iran participated in light jogging, but Ajayi and Ogbu were missing.
Their absence could be precautionary to prevent further injury. With additional training sessions scheduled for Sunday and Monday, there is still a chance both players could be fit in time for the clash against Jordan.
