Troops under Operation Hadin Kai have arrested two individuals suspected of acting as informants for ISWAP in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.
The arrests were revealed on Thursday by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama in a post on his X account.
According to security sources, the suspects were apprehended around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday after intelligence reports flagged unusual movements in the Mainok area.
Troops from the 156 Task Force Battalion reportedly acted swiftly, intercepting the suspects as they moved toward the Goni–Masari axis.Items recovered from them included electrical cables, which authorities believe may be linked to sabotage or support for terrorist operations.
“They are currently in custody and undergoing preliminary investigation to ascertain their roles and possible links with terrorist groups,” a source said.
The source added that the operation highlights the importance of community-based intelligence in ongoing counter-insurgency efforts in the North-East.
The source reaffirmed that troops remain vigilant and committed to denying terrorist groups freedom of action within their areas of responsibility.
