A 19-year-old man, Habeeb Waheed, on Wednesday appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, facing charges of alleged theft of copper cables and wires valued at N50 million.
Waheed, who pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, was accused of stealing the materials from C Divine Answer International Company at Alaba International Market in July 2025.
According to the prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, Waheed conspired with other suspects, who remain at large, to remove the copper cables and wires from the company’s premises. He said the defendant was arrested after investigations by the police.
The alleged offences, the prosecutor added, contravene Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Magistrate Lateef Layeni, however, granted Waheed bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties of the same amount. The case has been adjourned until April 1 for mention.
