Chelsea FC Hit With £10.75m Fine, Transfer Ban

David Egbede, March 16, 2026March 16, 2026

Chelsea FC have been fined £10.75 million by the Premier League and handed a one-window transfer ban, suspended for two years, over historical breaches of regulations during Roman Abramovich’s ownership.

The Premier League confirmed the sanction in a detailed statement posted on its website on Monday.

The disciplinary action follows Chelsea’s voluntary self-reporting of potential rule violations. The club was subsequently charged by the Football Association last September.

An independent commission found that Chelsea breached regulations related to financial reporting, third-party investment, and youth development.

Chelsea was acquired by Boehly’s BlueCo consortium in 2022, following Abramovich’s sale of the club.
