Voting was abruptly disrupted at Polling Unit 017 in Kuje after officers of the Nigeria Police Force stormed the area and arrested three men later confirmed to be involved in vote buying.
RBN correspondent at the scene witnessed the incident, reporting that the arrests triggered chaos as some youths reacted angrily and began causing a disturbance. In the ensuing confusion, security personnel chased voters away from the polling unit, forcing many to flee and temporarily halting the voting process.
INEC officials had earlier expressed concern over low voter turnout before the disruption escalated tensions further.
During the incident, members of the RBN team were reportedly harassed by security operatives, and their cameras were seized while carrying out their legitimate media duties.
Although security presence has since been reinforced at the polling unit, the atmosphere remains tense, with agitated crowds lingering around the area as authorities work to restore order.
