FCT Poll: Voting Begins at AMAC Polling Unit

David Egbede, February 21, 2026February 21, 2026

Voting commenced on schedule at Polling Unit 007, 008, 009 and 059, located at Government Secondary School, Wuse Zone 3, in the Abuja Municipal Area Council on Saturday as residents turned out to participate in the Federal Capital Territory Area Council elections.

The exercise began at exactly 8:51 a.m. after electoral officials concluded the pasting of the voter register and party agents completed verification of details on the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System. INEC officials arrived earlier and were seen setting up materials before accreditation and voting began. Security personnel are present at the venue, and the atmosphere remains calm.

Our correspondent observed a smooth process, with the BVAS machines functioning effectively and voters being accredited without difficulty. However, other voters raised concerns about difficulty locating their designated polling units. Some residents said they have voted at the centre for years but were unable to find their names on the register today. They also complained of limited assistance from officials on ground.
