Vice President Kashim Shettima has touched down in Davos, Switzerland, to head Nigeria’s delegation at the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum.
The forum, which convenes global political and business leaders, is scheduled to take place from January 19 to 23, 2026.

In a post on his verified social media account, the Vice President stated that he was welcomed on arrival by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole; and officials from the Nigerian mission in Switzerland.
Shettima visit to Davos comes immediately after representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the presidential inauguration of President Mamadi Doumbouya in Conakry, Guinea, on Saturday.

Reflecting on the trip, he remarked, “It was a proud moment to stand in for our President at such an important regional event, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to strong diplomatic ties with our African neighbours.”
Speaking on arrival, he said, “It is an honour to represent Nigeria at this year’s World Economic Forum. We are here to showcase Nigeria’s economic potential, explore investment opportunities, and strengthen our global partnerships.”
At the 2026 WEF, the Nigerian delegation is expected to engage with global leaders, investors, and policymakers, discussing strategies to boost economic growth, attract foreign investment, and foster sustainable development.

“We are here not only to share Nigeria’s progress but to listen, learn, and bring back actionable insights that will further our national development agenda,” he added.
With a packed schedule of high-level meetings and panels, Nigeria’s presence in Davos signals a renewed commitment to global economic collaboration and the promotion of the country as a top investment destination.
