Yemen’s Houthis join Middle East War, Fire Missile Toward Israel

David Egbede, March 28, 2026March 28, 2026

Yemen’s Houthi rebels have officially entered the escalating Middle East conflict, launching a ballistic missile toward Israel as the war enters its second month with growing global concern.

The move signals a widening of hostilities, as Iran’s Yemeni allies join the confrontation involving Israel and the United States—raising fears of further disruption to key shipping routes, especially in the Red Sea.

According to the group, missiles were fired at Israeli targets, while the Israeli military confirmed it had “identified the launch of a missile from Yemen toward Israeli territory, aerial defence systems are operating to intercept the threat.”

The projectile was reportedly intercepted, with no casualties recorded.
The conflict, triggered by US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran that killed top leadership, has already sent shockwaves through global energy markets, with oil and gas prices surging amid blocked trade routes.

Despite ongoing tensions, diplomatic efforts remain in motion.

US envoy Steve Witkoff expressed optimism about possible talks, stating, “this week, we’re certainly hopeful for it” and adding, “It could solve it all.”

Meanwhile, Iran has warned regional countries against allowing their territories to be used for military operations, saying, “If you want development and security, don’t let our enemies run the war from your lands.”

With attacks spreading across multiple fronts and no clear resolution in sight, concerns are mounting over a broader regional escalation and its global economic impact.
