Troops from Sector 6 of Operation OPEP have killed five suspected kidnappers and freed a woman during a raid on a criminal hideout in Angwan Boka, Sopp District, in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The development was disclosed Tuesday in a post on X by Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency and security analyst covering the Lake Chad region.
Makama said the operation took place around 6:20 p.m. on Feburary 17, following actionable intelligence obtained from two suspects arrested a day earlier and identified as members of a kidnapping syndicate. According to the publication, the suspects had revealed the location of their accomplices’ hideout and confirmed that a woman abducted earlier at about 6:00am the same day was being held there.
“Troops immediately mobilised to the objective with the two arrested suspects in custody.
“On arrival, they made contact with the kidnappers and neutralised three of them during an exchange of fire,” the publication said.
