President Bola Tinubu’s historic state visit to the United Kingdom saw a notable adjustment on Wednesday, as he skipped the traditional luncheon at Windsor Castle to observe Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.
The schedule was revised to accommodate his fasting, with an evening state banquet planned instead.
During the visit, President Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu were formally received by King Charles III and Queen Camilla with full military honours, marking a significant diplomatic moment.
Senior royals, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, also greeted the Nigerian leaders, highlighting the ceremonial importance of the visit.
Beyond ceremonial engagements, the visit includes bilateral discussions aimed at strengthening trade, investment, security, and cultural ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu is set to participate in additional cultural and religious events, including a visit to Lambeth Palace, further showcasing the visit’s combination of diplomatic and cultural engagement.
