Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has directed all political appointees to immediately relinquish their positions, barely 24 hours after beginning his second term in office.
The directive was communicated through an official circular issued on Wednesday, by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
Affected officials have been instructed to hand over their duties to Permanent Secretaries or the most senior civil servants within their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
The memo emphasized that the transition must be completed before the close of work on the same day, pending the formation of a new cabinet.
“I am directed to inform all political appointees to hand over… on or before the close of work today until a new cabinet is constituted,” the statement noted.
Additionally, all members of the outgoing cabinet have been scheduled to meet with the governor on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the ANSEC Chambers.
The directive, signed by Permanent Secretary Dr. Nwabufor Nwankwo, effectively dissolves the current cabinet and signals the start of a new administrative phase as Soludo prepares to appoint a fresh executive team.
