The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Tanimu Turaki is currently in a closed-door meeting with the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), headed by Adolphus Wabara, in Abuja.
The meeting marks the third gathering by the Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC) within the week, as efforts to resolve the party’s internal crisis continue.
At a similar meeting held on Wednesday, the Turaki faction expressed willingness to reconcile with the camp aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Turaki also hinted at progress, noting that both sides appear to be moving closer to reaching a truce.
On its part, the Abdulrahman Mohamed-led caretaker committee, which is backed by Wike, has also indicated openness to reconciliation but maintained that its proposed national convention slated for March 29 and 30 must go ahead.
Key figures at the ongoing meeting include Turaki, Wabara, former Niger State governor Babangida Aliyu, former Kano State governor Ibrahim Shekarau, and former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana.
