Nigeria to Face Morocco in 2026 Davis Cup

David Egbede, February 13, 2026February 13, 2026

Nigeria will take on Morocco in the 2026 Davis Cup World Group I playoff, aiming to secure promotion and claim their first-ever win against the North African team.

The playoff, scheduled for September 18–20, 2026, poses a tough challenge for Nigeria as they seek to advance in the competition.

Morocco, currently ranked 48th globally, is Africa’s second-highest-ranked tennis nation after Egypt and is among the continent’s strongest Davis Cup sides.

The tie represents a significant test for Nigeria, which has yet to record a victory over Morocco in Davis Cup history. The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has confirmed the match window but has yet to announce the host nation and venue.

With a place in World Group I at stake, the clash is expected to be fiercely contested. For Nigeria, it offers not only an opportunity to advance in the prestigious tournament but also a chance to end a decades-long winless streak against one of Africa’s tennis powerhouses.
