LIRS Extends Deadline for Filing Individual Income Tax Returns to April 21, 2026

The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has announced a further extension of the deadline for the filing of Individual Annual Income Tax Returns, moving it from April 14, 2026 to April 21, 2026.

According to the agency, the decision follows a noticeable surge in activity on its eTax platform as taxpayers rush to meet the earlier deadline.

LIRS said the extension is aimed at easing pressure on the system and ensuring that all taxpayers have sufficient time to complete their filings successfully.

The agency expressed appreciation to taxpayers for their continued compliance and commitment to fulfilling their civic obligations, noting that the additional one-week extension is intended to enhance convenience while maintaining accuracy and integrity in submissions.

The Executive Chairman of LIRS, Dr. Ayodele Subair, reiterated that all tax returns must be filed strictly through the official eTax platform, which remains the only approved channel for submission.

Taxpayers are advised to complete their filings within the new deadline and take advantage of the extension to avoid penalties associated with late submission.
