Reality star and rapper Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba, popularly known as Laycon, has spoken about his path to self-discovery and the value of inner peace.
The Fierce crooner revealed that he lost his inner voice after winning the Big Brother Naija reality show in 2020, adding that he only rediscovered it a year later.
In a recent video broadcast titled Life With Laycon, the rapper explained that silence has been the constant element throughout his journey of self-reflection. “Has the world ever gone silent on you and all you have left was your own thoughts?” He asked.
“I have been there and I want to share a part of that experience with you. After I won Big Brother Naija in 2020, I lost my inner voice and the first time I heard that voice again was December 2021 after my sold-out concert, The Icons Fest,” the rapper said.
“The voice kept asking me questions like, ‘Is this really how you want to live? Are you enjoying yourself? What’s next after this?
“Are you happy? Questions that made me want to sit alone with my thoughts. So, that’s what I did. From that conversation came a lot of necessary but uncomfortable truths and realisation about myself,” he added.
Laycon noted that a lot of people are not growing because they are scared of embracing loneliness and silence.
He pointed out that silence may be uncomfortable but it is vital for personal growth.
According to him, silence is a mirror which projects one’s life on their thoughts and allows them to make necessary amendments.
The rapper urged his fans to embrace solitude and self-reflection as a form of personal accountability.
