A member of the House of Representatives, Ibrahim Mohammed, representing Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo and Bunza Federal Constituency, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement, the lawmaker attributed his decision to ongoing internal crises within the PDP, noting that the party has been struggling with leadership issues and prolonged litigations that have weakened its effectiveness.
According to him, the challenges have made it difficult for loyal members to contribute meaningfully to the party’s growth and democratic responsibilities.
Mohammed, son of former PDP National Chairman Bello Haliru, said his defection followed extensive consultations with constituents and political stakeholders.
He explained that joining the APC was in the best interest of his constituency and would enhance his capacity to deliver effective representation.
The lawmaker also confirmed that his resignation letter has been submitted to his ward chairman in Nasarawa 1 Ward, while the Speaker of the House of Representatives has been duly notified of his defection.
