Kano Gov Sacks Galadima as State Polytechnic Council Chairman

David Egbede, February 16, 2026

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has dismissed Buba Galadima from his role as Chairman of the Governing Council of Kano State Polytechnic.

The governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday.

Following the sack, Yusuf has approved the appointment of the Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, as the new Chairman of the polytechnic’s Governing Council.

The statement noted that Galadima’s removal is part of ongoing restructuring efforts designed to align the institution with the administration’s Kano First Agenda. “Although the tenure of the Governing Council is for a period of three years, the appointment of the Chairman was terminated before expiration due to ongoing reforms for optimal performance of the polytechnic,” the statement read. The governor, however, thanked Galadima for his contributions during his tenure.

“Governor Yusuf appreciates Engr. Buba Galadima for the services he rendered to the institution and wishes him well in his future endeavours,” Dawakin Tofa stated. Yusuf also urged the new appointee, the Emir of Gaya, to deploy his wealth of experience and leadership capacity toward repositioning the institution.

“The governor calls on the new chairman to bring his wealth of experience, leadership and commitment to bear in repositioning Kano State Polytechnic for greater academic and administrative excellence,” the statement added.
