Jigawa State Government has approved N2.6 billion to fund the 2026 Hajj exercise, officials said on Wednesday, aiming to improve logistics and welfare for intending pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia.
The approval was announced by the Commissioner for Information, Sagir Musa, while briefing journalists on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting held in Dutse. He said the funding is intended to ensure smooth coordination and efficient transportation during the pilgrimage.
According to Musa, the funds will cover air transportation, accommodation, feeding, medical services, and pre-departure orientation programmes. Other logistical arrangements for pilgrims will also be supported under the approved budget.
The commissioner said the funding will enhance service delivery and ensure the safety and comfort of pilgrims throughout the Hajj period.
He added that the 2026 Hajj exercise to Saudi Arabia will be conducted in line with established standards and best practices, reflecting the government’s continued support for the religious obligations of its citizens.
