IGP Deploys Specialised Teams to Secure Benue Ahead of 2026 Easter

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered the deployment of 14 units from 16 Police Mobile Force (PMF) squadrons along with 250 personnel from specialised tactical teams to reinforce the Benue State Police Command ahead of the 2026 Easter festivities.

According to a statement by the spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, DSP Udeme Edet, the deployment aims to strengthen ongoing security operations and safeguard lives and property across the state during the festive period.

The deployed personnel have been integrated with the state command’s tactical teams and other security agencies, focusing on the hinterlands, vulnerable communities, and key public areas.

DSP Edet also said that Commissioner of Police, CP Ifeanyi Emenari, commended the IGP for the timely reinforcement and reassured residents of the command’s readiness to maintain law and order before, during, and after Easter.

He urged citizens to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely information.
