Full List: 10 African Teams at 2026 World Cup

David Egbede, April 1, 2026April 1, 2026

Africa will be represented by a record 10 teams at the 2026 FIFA World Cup following DR Congo’s qualification, completing the continent’s lineup for the expanded tournament.

DR Congo booked their place with a 1–0 extra-time victory over Jamaica in the intercontinental play-offs on Tuesday, sealing the final African slot.

The increase in representation comes after FIFA expanded the tournament to 48 teams, boosting Africa’s allocation from five to nine automatic slots, with an additional place secured via the play-offs.

Cape Verde headlines the historic list with a maiden appearance, becoming one of the smallest nations ever to qualify for the World Cup, with a population of about 525,000.

Morocco and Tunisia remain the most experienced sides among the qualifiers, each boasting seven previous appearances at the tournament.
