The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Abuja-based house agent, Hajia Adama Ahmed Adamu, over an alleged N288 million property scam.
The arrest followed a petition filed by a complainant who accused the suspect of fraudulent dealings. According to the EFCC, Adamu allegedly collected the money from Alhaji Tanko Yawale under the guise of facilitating the purchase of a property located at House 31, Haile Selassie Street, Asokoro, Abuja.
Findings revealed that after receiving the payment, the agent failed to provide valid ownership documents for the property, raising concerns about the legitimacy of the transaction.
“Hajia Adamu allegedly failed to provide the complainant with valid documents for the property and subsequently became evasive, raising suspicion and prompting a formal petition to the EFCC,” the statement read.
Operatives of the Commission later tracked and arrested the suspect in connection with the alleged fraud.
