Faulty Screening Equipment Disrupts Flights at Abuja Airport

David Egbede, April 6, 2026April 6, 2026

Flight operations at the domestic terminal of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport have been disrupted due to a technical fault affecting baggage screening systems.

In a statement, Air Peace confirmed the issue has slowed baggage handling and could lead to delays in some departures.

“This situation is due to a technical issue with baggage screening equipment within the terminal, which has slowed standard processing procedures,” the airline said.

“To minimise disruption, we have proactively activated alternative screening procedures using available equipment to ensure flights continue operating safely.

“However, these additional steps may result in longer processing times and possible delays to some departures.”

Air Peace added that ground staff have been deployed to assist passengers, provide updates, and prioritise affected flights.

“Please be assured that we are doing everything within our control to expedite the process and reduce the impact on your travel plans.”

The airline also appealed for patience, noting it is working closely with airport authorities to resolve the issue and restore normal operations as quickly as possible.
