The Confederation of All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Groups has urged President Bola Tinubu to consider appointing qualified and loyal leaders of party support groups into political offices ahead of future elections.
The call is contained in a letter addressed to the President and signed by the Director-General of the group, Prof. Kailani Muhammad, in Abuja on Tuesday.
Muhammad said members of the APC and its numerous support groups deserved recognition for their commitment and sacrifices before the 2023 general elections.
According to him, many committed individuals invested their time, energy, and personal resources to mobilise support and ensure your electoral success.
“It is clearly understood that the government of Nigeria belongs to all Nigerians and not to a single political party.
“It is also politically wise and morally fair to recognise the dedication of those who stood firmly with you during the pre-election period.
“Many of the leaders of APC support groups and loyal party members possess the competence, experience, and commitment required to contribute meaningfully to national development.
“Appointing qualified individuals from among those who demonstrated loyalty and service before the elections would not only acknowledge their sacrifices but also strengthen the political foundation of your administration.
“Such appointments should, of course, remain guided by merit, competence, and integrity,” he said.
He said leadership at the current stage of Nigeria’s development required openness, fairness and a clear national purpose, adding that citizens desired transparent, inclusive and responsive governance.
According to him, history will judge every administration not by the power it held but by the lives it improved and the institutions it strengthened.
“Your presidency presents an opportunity to deepen democratic accountability, restore public confidence, defeat insecurity, and responsibly manage the nation’s resources for the benefit of present and future generations.
“Nigeria remains a country of immense potential. With transparent leadership, national unity, and inclusive governance, that potential can still be fully realised,” the director-general said.
He commended the administration for demonstrating political courage in implementing difficult reforms, particularly the removal of petroleum subsidy.
According to him, the policy was justified on the grounds that it would free national resources for development and economic restructuring.
“Such a decision required political courage, and many Nigerians recognise the weight of that responsibility.
“However, bold reforms must also be accompanied by clear transparency and accountability.

He, however, called for transparency in the management of funds saved from the subsidy removal, noting that Nigerians deserved clear information on how such resources were being utilised to improve infrastructure, healthcare, education and social welfare.
Muhammad also identified security as an urgent national concern, saying terrorism, banditry and violent crimes continued to threaten communities in spite of ongoing efforts by security agencies.
“Transparency in this matter is not merely an administrative requirement; it is essential for rebuilding public trust and sustaining confidence in the difficult economic reforms your administration has introduced.
“Security remains another urgent national concern. In spite of the efforts of our armed forces and security agencies, terrorism, banditry, and violent criminal activities continue to threaten communities across the country.
“Many Nigerians still live with uncertainty and fear, while countless families have been displaced by violence,” he said.
He said strengthened intelligence coordination, improved support for security institutions and decisive actions were necessary to restore safety and public confidence across the federation.
