Angwan Rukuba Attack Forces University to Postpone Exams Amid Rising Security Concerns

David Egbede, March 30, 2026March 30, 2026

Following the attack on Angwa Rukuba Community, the Management of the University of Jos has rescheduled the examination earlier slated for Monday and Tuesday.

This  is contained in a statement  issued by Mr Emmanuel Madugu, the Deputy Registrar, Information and Public Relations of the university, in a statement on Monday in Jos.

The institution cited the “late evening fatal attacks” and the tension within the university community and surrounding areas as reasons for the decision.

The Vice Chancellor has also urged heightened vigilance among staff and students, both on and off campus. The university strongly cautioned the community against moving around early in the morning and advised reporting any suspicious activities or threats to the University Security Division.

“Members are strongly advised to avoid coming out very early in the morning and should report immediately any sign or shadow of breach of the public peace,” the statement said, providing an emergency contact for swift response.

Authorities assured that they are working closely with relevant security agencies to monitor the situation and safeguard lives and property within the campus and nearby areas.

While appealing for calm, the management stressed that updates would be provided as the situation evolves, urging the university community to stay vigilant and hopeful despite the security challenges.
