Muslim faithful in Abia State on Friday marked the Eid-el-Fitr celebration with renewed calls for peace, unity, and religious tolerance across Nigeria.
The appeal was made during Eid prayers held at Umuahia Township Stadium.
In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Umuahia Central Mosque, Mallam Aminu Lawal, highlighted the significance of peace, compassion, and national unity.
He described Eid-el-Fitr as a time to express gratitude to Almighty Allah after a month of fasting, prayers, and charity.
He urged Muslims and the wider public to uphold mutual respect and work together for societal progress, noting that meaningful development can only thrive in a peaceful and united environment.
Also speaking, the leader of the Hausa community in Abia State, Yaro Danladi, reaffirmed the Northern community’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and strengthening ties across diverse cultures.
Meanwhile, Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, assured Muslim faithful and residents that his administration would continue to promote fairness and equity among all religious groups.
