The Medical Director of the State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri, Shehu Muhammad, has raised concerns over a critical shortage of blood following the admission of victims from the recent incident in Jilli village.
Speaking on Sunday, Muhammad said the hospital is in urgent need of blood donations as it battles to manage the growing number of patients brought in after the attack.
According to him, at least 21 victims are currently receiving treatment, with many requiring immediate blood transfusions to survive.
“We need people to donate blood, as most of the victims brought in from Jilli need blood transfusion with immediate effect,” he said.
He noted that while medical personnel are working tirelessly to stabilise patients, the lack of sufficient blood supply remains a major challenge.
The hospital has therefore appealed to residents and voluntary donors to come forward and help replenish its blood bank to support ongoing emergency response efforts.
