ADC Supports NBA Stance, Opposes Court Interference in Internal Party Matters

David Egbede, April 11, 2026April 11, 2026

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has backed the position of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), insisting that courts have no jurisdiction over internal party matters.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party described recent legal actions challenging its leadership as an abuse of judicial process, including “forum shopping” and “mala fide litigation.”

According to him, the disputes surrounding the leadership under David Mark are not genuine legal battles but calculated attempts to manipulate the system for political gain.

ADC warned that any court orders obtained outside the provisions of electoral laws remain invalid and should not influence party leadership decisions.

The party also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to stay neutral and avoid legitimising actions that contradict the Electoral Act.

While commending the NBA for defending judicial integrity, ADC reaffirmed its commitment to protecting democratic principles and resolving disputes through lawful means.
