The Maiduguri Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a suspect, Fatima Muhammed, over alleged naira mutilation.
The arrest was carried out on Tuesday, after a video circulated on TikTok showed the suspect using a N500 note to clean mucus from her nose.
Following the viral clip, EFCC operatives tracked her down and apprehended her within the Maiduguri metropolis.
The commission disclosed that the suspect is currently in custody at its Maiduguri detention facility as investigations continue.
She is expected to be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
