2027: Datti Tells Peter Obi to Return to Labour Party if ADC Ticket Fails

David Egbede, March 25, 2026March 25, 2026

Former vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has advised Peter Obi to consider returning to the party if he fails to secure the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking during an interview on Trust TV, Datti expressed confidence in Obi’s political value and pledged his support should he make a comeback to the Labour Party.

According to him, he would personally work towards ensuring Obi secures the party’s presidential ticket and also help reconcile any differences between Obi and party stakeholders.

“I have a lot of respect for Peter Obi. If he doesn’t get the ADC ticket, he should return to the Labour Party. I will support him and help secure the ticket,” he said.

Datti further noted his willingness to mend relationships between Obi and anyone he may have had misunderstandings with.

It will be recalled that both politicians ran together under the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections.
