Troops under Operation HADIN KAI have arrested several individuals suspected of supplying fuel to Boko Haram in Yusufari Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The operation, reportedly carried out late on Tuesday, involved personnel of the 241 Battalion stationed at a Forward Operating Base in Jajimaji.
The troops were on routine night patrol when they intercepted two vehicles loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at a filling station in the Yusuf Abah area.
According to security sources, the vehicles attempted to escape upon sighting the soldiers. One of the vehicles was successfully stopped, while the other fled the scene.
A search of the intercepted vehicle led to the discovery of seven sacks of PMS, each containing about 77 litres.
The driver, identified as Mohammed Idi, 25, and his assistant, Mero Umra, 21, were arrested. Also taken into custody were the station manager, Hasan Liman, 50, and a security guard, Jibril Audu, 28.
Troops also recovered N1.6 million in cash, suspected to be proceeds or operational funds linked to the supply chain.
All suspects and recovered items are currently in custody as investigations continue.
